My Meditation Routine
Hi everyone,
The last few weeks have been very busy and stressful for me. I have been looking for different ways to try to relax. I have tried many different methods and none of them seemed to work for me. So, after doing some research into meditation, I thought I would give it a try. When I first heard about it I was very skeptical and to be honest I didn’t think it would work for me. I know that it isn’t for everyone, but I wanted to share my experience.
Meditation is something I had read about, but I didn’t really know how to feel about it. Part of me wanted to try it, yet the other part thought it wouldn’t work. Meditation for me is about being able to control and clear your thoughts, to be able to feel every single heartbeat in your body, and feel every second of every breath you take.
So I how I did it:
Step 1
I found myself a quiet and low lit room. I discovered that my bedroom worked best for me. You can really connect with yourself when you have a safe and comfortable space.
Step 2
I found a comfy pillow or blanket to sit on. I prefer to sit so when I’m in the zone I’m not too comfy that I fall asleep. I also leaned against my bed to give my body the extra support.
Step 3
I put on headphones to help block out ambient noises. I found it really helps you get into the clear headspace.
Step 4
I brought a glass of water with me; I really try to stay hydrated. I drank half the glass before I start.
Step 5
There are many meditation videos out there to listen to while you meditate. The ones that I used are Candle Light Mediation and Guided Mediation to Relieve Stress and Anxiety (see links below). The Mediation videos can be anywhere from 5 minutes to 6-7 hours. I had to go through a few of them to find the ones that really worked for me.
Listening to these videos was extremely helpful. I try to mediate in the morning before work as I like to have a clear and positive mind before I start my day. Mediating at night is also a big thing for me. When I go to sleep I want a clear mind so I can truly relax.
I know some situations in life can be too much and I’ve found that using the breathing methods that are used in meditation is one of the best ways to bring your mind back to you. A few deep breaths and closing my eyes helps me ground myself.
The other part of mediation that I’m interested in is the use crystals and essential oils. There are so many crystals to choose from. Do your research and choose ones that you believe will work best for you. The ones I have been using are Rose Quartz and Peach Selenite and Amethyst (from Lucky Bamboo). These crystals have worked so well for me. I carry them on myself everywhere I go. The oils are important as well, I mainly use the Peppermint oil (from Saje). The Peppermint oil helps me relax, cleanses my mind, and gives me an overall happy feeling.
Thanks for reading,
Love, Emma
